Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has said that Operation Ganga is being carried out rapidly to bring back the stranded Indians in Ukraine. According to the information received from the Ministry of External Affairs, many flights have come to India in the last 24 hours. More flights are scheduled in the next 24 hours. A large number of Indians will come back in the next two-three days. He said that the increasing number of flights shows that a large number of Indians have come out of Ukraine. They are currently in neighboring countries. CM Jai Ram Thakur said that they are engaged in bringing them back from there in commercial and Indian Air Force aircraft. On the basis of this information, 309 students of Himachal Pradesh have returned safely. 149 students are still in Ukraine or have reached neighboring Romania, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia.
The state government is in constant touch with him and his family members with full sensitivity. While every effort is being made for their return with the help of the Ministry of External Affairs, arrangements have been made to send them to their homes on reaching Delhi and Mumbai. He further said that Indians are still stranded in Kharkiv and Summi, the eastern part of Ukraine. These include the students of the state. As per the advice of the Ministry of External Affairs, some students have been able to leave Kharkiv and reach the designated places. The special thing is that the return of students from Kharkiv has also started. The Ministry of External Affairs has assured that the way which is convenient, the students will be evacuated from there. He said that the state government stands with the families of the students of the state trapped there in this crisis. He wishes for his speedy return.
