In Himachal Pradesh, doctors and nurses will now be transferred only on the recommendation of Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur. The Chief Minister’s Office has put the files of transfers on pending. To strengthen the health facilities in Himachal, where doctors have been posted, they will have to render services there. It will be mandatory to take the Chief Minister into confidence even for transfer in special circumstances. The state government has already banned transfers in Himachal. Doctors and nurses are taking DO notes to provide services of their choice and close to home, taking the ministers, legislators and leaders of their constituencies into confidence.
Dozens of such files have reached the Secretariat. Not only this, doctors and paramedical staff are demanding the nearest station on making new appointments. The government has decided that the institutions and health centers where doctors and nurses have been put on duty, they will have to provide services there. The department has started returning files from medical colleges and zonal hospitals for transfers and adjustments. On the other hand, Principal Secretary Health Subhasish Panda said that the transfers have been banned. Transfers are being done only on special circumstances and on the recommendation of the Chief Minister.
