Keeping in mind the environmental protection in Himachal Pradesh, the Pollution Control Board has fixed the time limit for fireworks to be run on four other festivals including Diwali. No person can fire fireworks for more than two hours on the night of Diwali. During this time people will have to run only green crackers. In this regard, the Pollution Control Board has asked the Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police of all the districts to ensure compliance of the orders.Harikesh Meena, Member Secretary, Pollution Control Board said that in compliance with the orders issued by the Supreme Court, a time limit has been fixed for the fireworks in the festival season. The district administration has been asked to ensure its compliance. Board believes that running fireworks is also dangerous for patients suffering from Covid. The smoke emanating from it can cause respiratory problems for Covid patients.
