The Electricity Board has set a target to replace all the old meters before the year 2024. Consumers will be able to recharge these electricity meters as per the requirement. Like mobile phone recharge, SMS will also come to the consumers before the amount runs out. These days the work of installing 1.5 lakh smart meters in Shimla and Dharamshala is going on.
Consumers will not have to pay any extra money for installation of prepaid meters. These meters will be connected to the control room through internet. After installing the smart meter, consumers will be able to recharge like a mobile phone according to the need.
