Union Information and Broadcasting, Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Anurag Singh Thakur has said that a bullet proof jacket factory will be set up in Himachal Pradesh. India will not be a weapon taker, now it will become an exporting country. He said this on Sunday at the Sainik Samman ceremony of Sujanpur assembly constituency at village outpost near Hamirpur.
He said that the contribution of Himachal in the Indian Army is 4 per cent. The warriors of Himachal have received more than 1100 gallantry awards in various wars and military operations. This is the reason why Himachal is known as Virbhoomi. He said that as soon as he took over the reins of the country, PM Modi gave a huge gift to the soldiers by releasing 55 thousand crore rupees for One Rank One Pension pending for decades.
Along with providing modern weapons to the army, Modi has given special emphasis on the manufacture of weapons in the country under the self-reliant India campaign. During the Kargil war, the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government started the tradition of transporting the mortal remains of all the martyred soldiers to their homes for the first time. The wars of 1962, 1965 and 1971 took place, but the families of the martyrs could not even have the last glimpse of their brave sons. On this occasion, former Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal also saluted the martyrs, ex-servicemen, serving soldiers and their families and said that the country can never forget their contribution.
