APG Shimla University Inaugurates Free Physiotherapy OPD, A boon for Shimla

APG Shimla University took a significant step towards providing accessible and advanced healthcare services by inaugurating its state-of-the-art Physiotherapy OPD. The inauguration was graced by Vinod Chauhan, Chairperson, State Allied & Healthcare Council, Himachal Pradesh, as the chief guest. The event witnessed the presence of faculty members, department heads, and esteemed guests, including Chancellor Er. Suman Vikrant, Pro-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ramesh Chauhan, Registrar Dr. Ankit Thakur, Dean Academics Prof. Dr. Anand Mohan Sharma along with faculty members from the Physiotherapy Department, including Dr. Smriti.
Vinod Chauhan emphasized the importance of physiotherapy in modern healthcare, highlighting its role in rehabilitation, pain management, and overall well-being. He urged students to stay away from harmful substances and instead focus on maintaining their physical and mental health through sports and physiotherapy. He further stated that physiotherapy extends beyond injury treatment and is an essential part of healthcare that benefits individuals of all ages. Whether recovering from surgery, managing a chronic illness, or seeking overall wellness, physiotherapy plays a crucial role. He also mentioned that both the Central Government’s National Health Commission and the Himachal Pradesh Government are actively promoting physiotherapy services.

Chancellor Er. Suman Vikrant expressed his commitment to strengthening healthcare education and services at APG Shimla University. He stated that the newly inaugurated Physiotherapy OPD will provide free, quality physiotherapy services to students, faculty, and the local community. The OPD will remain open on business days from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, offering treatment at no cost to patients. This initiative reflects the university’s dedication to societal well-being and public welfare.

Furthermore, Chancellor Er. Suman Vikrant announced that APG Shimla University, in collaboration with IGMC Shimla, will organize a Free Health Camp on April 2. This camp will focus on orthopedic care, general medical checkups, and eye examinations, providing expert consultation and medical advice to the public.
