After the completion of three years of Kuldeep Rathor’s term, Pratibha Virbhadra Singh, wife of MP and former Chief Minister, has been made the 32nd President of Himachal Pradesh Congress. On Tuesday late evening, the Congress high command has made a big reshuffle in the state Congress. Four working presidents have been made along with the new chairman. Former state president and MLA Sukhwinder Sukhu has been given the command of the election campaign committee. Mukesh Agnihotri will continue as Leader of Opposition. In the Mandi by-election, the party high command has planned to return to power with the help of MP Pratibha Singh, wife of former Chief Minister late Virbhadra Singh, who has beaten the ruling BJP government. In the last several assembly elections, former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh was the chairman of the election campaign committee. Now after his death, the high command has given preference to both the factions by appointing Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, who was his ideological rival in the assembly elections going to be held in the state, as the president of the campaign committee. Sukhu has also been elected as a member of the Screening Committee. This committee decides the ticket. Preparations are on to give ticket from Theog assembly constituency to former president Kuldeep Singh Rathore with responsibility in the All India Congress Committee.
On Tuesday evening, MP Pratibha Virbhadra Singh left Shimla for Sarahan as soon as she became the party president. Pratibha Singh will pay obeisance at the Bhimakali temple on Wednesday morning. The party high command has also praised the work of former party president Kuldeep Singh Rathore. State Congress Steering Committee MLA Asha Kumar has been made the coordinator. Dhaniram Shandil, Kuldeep Singh Rathore, Biplab Thakur, Kaul Singh Thakur, Ramlal Thakur, Chandra Kumar, Suresh Chandel and Harshvardhan Chauhan have been made members in the committee.
