In order to surround the Congress’s Punjab government in the name of playing with the security of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state’s ruling BJP itself played with the law on the historic Ridge Maidan. The BJP staged a silent dharna in front of the statue of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi without taking permission from the government and the district administration at the historic Ridge Maidan. Even the Mayor and several councilors from Municipal Corporation were found joining the protest. During this corona rules were also not followed. The district administration and police neither stopped the protestors nor took any action against them.
The Himachal Pradesh High Court has banned any political activity at the Ridge Ground where the BJP staged a sit-in protest on Friday. Also, the permission of the Home Department is also necessary. But the BJP neither heeded the orders nor waited for permission. BJP’s co-media chief Karan Nanda said the party had applied for permission to the district administration. However, he could not answer whether he got permission or not. DC Aditya Negi and SP Dr. Monika did not respond. Principal Secretary Home Bharat Khera said that he was not aware of any such event.
