Churdhar, a famous religious place of district Sirmaur, has received snowfall in the month of May after 60 years. Earlier in May 1962, there was snowfall. This famous religious place used to have snowfall from October to April, but this time it has snowed in the last week of May, which was also enjoyed by the devotees.
8 – 10 cm of snow has been recorded. Due to which the temperature of the area is 2 °C. At the same time, seeing this wonderful sight, more than 500 devotees who reached here also became its witnesses. The temperature of Churdhar reached two degrees Celsius after fresh snowfall. It has been raining since Monday in Paonta, Renuka, Nahan, Nohradhar and Haripurdhar.
Significantly, these days a large number of devotees are reaching to visit the religious place. Here the journey starts from the month of April, which will last till the month of September. After this snowfall starts in the area, due to which the journey stops. From October to December, snow falls from 4 to 5 feet here. Sometimes even 8 to 10 feet of snow falls.
Tulsi Ram, 85, a resident of Nowhradhar, former president of Chureshwar Committee, said that exactly 60 years ago, in 1962, there was snowfall in Churdhar during the last week of May. At that time he was about 25 years old. Churdhar receives snowfall from October to April.
