Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur today unveiled the statue of former Prime Minister, Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee on the occasion of his 97th birth anniversary at Mall Road Manali, District Kullu. After this, the Chief Minister, while addressing a public meeting at Preni, the village of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, said that the people of the state and especially the Kullu district were fortunate that Atal Bihari Vajpayee had special affection and affection for Himachal. He said that despite his busy schedule as the Prime Minister of India, Atal Bihari Vajpayee used to visit Prini every year. He said that the entire government used to run from this small village for a few days. He said that the state has received generous assistance from the Center due to the special grace of the Prime Minister.Jai Ram Thakur said that even the political opponents of Atal Bihari Vajpayee used to come to listen to his speech. He said that the Atal Tunnel is the result of the vision of the former Prime Minister, which has transformed the economy of the tribal district of Lahaul Spiti and is also very important from the strategic point of view. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has fulfilled this dream of the former Prime Minister by dedicating this tunnel to the nation on October 3, 2020, constructed at a cost of about Rs 3500 crore. The Chief Minister said that this tunnel has paved a new path of development in Lahaul Spiti district. He said that this day is celebrated as Good Governance Day in the honor of the former Prime Minister. He said that many schemes of the state government have been named after Atal Bihari Vajpayee in the honor of the former prime minister. He said that the State Government would provide all possible help to take forward the Atal Gyan Kendra Yojana as it would be a true tribute to the former Prime Minister. He also recited a few lines from the poems of Atal Bihari Vajpayee.Jai Ram Thakur said that the present State Government is completing four years of its present term on 27th of this month and Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a huge gathering at the historic Paddal Ground, Mandi. The Chief Minister announced Rs 20 lakh for the construction of community center at Preni village and Rs 10 lakh for construction of Janjghar at Preni. He also announced Rs 2 lakh to the local youth club to buy cricket and volleyball kits from his voluntary fund.
