SJVN Chairman and Managing Director, Nand Lal Sharma inaugurated the second unit of 1320 MW Buxar Thermal Power Plant through virtual medium. On this occasion, Director (Electrical), Mr. Sushil Kumar Sharma and SJVN Thermal Pvt. Ltd. (STPL) CEO Sanjeev Sood along with other senior officials were present. On this occasion Nand Lal Sharma said that the foundation stone of 1320 MW Buxar Thermal Power Plant was laid on 9th March 2019 by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi ji. . Sharma also informed that Hon’ble Union Minister for Power and NRE R. Of. Continuous monitoring of the project progress is being done by Singh. He called upon all the stakeholders to enthusiastically work hard to commission the project before the stipulated time frame. He further apprised that there are two units in this plant and more than 50 percent work has been completed on the first unit. The 1320 MW (2×660 MW) Buxar Thermal Power Plant with Ultra Super Critical Technology has been awarded by SJVN Thermal Pvt. Ltd. (a wholly owned subsidiary of SJVN Limited). The plant involves an investment of about Rs 11,000 crore. Upon commissioning, the plant will generate 9828 million units of electricity. He emphasized on contributing towards the goal of “24×7 Power to All” set by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India. He said that each person associated with the plant has to work harmoniously towards the commissioning of the first unit of the plant by June, 2023 and the second unit by January, 2024. The present installed capacity of SJVN is 2016.51 MW and presently the company’s portfolio is 11000. MW and committed to generate 5000 MW by 2023, 12000 MW by 2030 and 25000 MW by 2040. SJVN has established its presence in various sectors of power generation, which include hydropower, wind, solar and thermal power. The company also has a presence in the energy transmission sector.
