Professor of Mathematics Jyoti Prakash has been appointed as the Pro Vice-Chancellor of Himachal Pradesh University. He has become the fifth pro vice-chancellor of the state university. His term will last for three years. Orders in this regard have been issued by Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar. The post of Vice-Chancellor in Himachal Pradesh University became vacant after Sikandar Kumar became a Rajya Sabha MP. After that the Vice Chancellor of Central University Dharamsala, Prof. SP Bansal was given the additional charge of Vice-Chancellor of Himachal Pradesh University. Due to the appointment of Jyoti Prakash on the post of Pro Vice Chancellor, now the possibility of appointment of a new Vice Chancellor in the State University is over.
Newly appointed Vice Chancellor Prof. Jyoti Prakash is a professor in the Department of Mathematics in the State University. He is also handling the charge of Dean College Development Council in the university from the year 2018. Pro. Jyoti Prakash is a resident of Shakrah village of Sundernagar tehsil of Mandi district. He started his teaching in the year 1996 at Daulatpur College in Una district as a lecturer in Mathematics. In 2011, he joined the Himachal University as an assistant professor. Since August 2014, he is serving as Professor (Mathematics) in the University. He has published 105 research papers so far.
