The rain in district Solan after about two months has brought relief to the farmers. Garlic growers have benefited the most from the rains. The garlic crop, which is in the grip of drought, has been revived by the rains. Better production of garlic is expected after the rains. However, 20 percent of garlic has been lost so far due to drought. In Solan district, farmers grow cash crops in an area of about five thousand hectares. Especially in the hilly areas of the district, farmers have planted garlic and tomato crops these days. Due to lack of rain for the past several days, the garlic and tomato crops had started wilting. Similarly, the pea crop was also facing drought.
The rains on Wednesday have also given life to these crops. If the weather pattern remains the same in the coming days also, then it is expected that good production of crops is being done. Similarly, after the rains in Nalagarh, Baddi, Parwanoo and adjoining areas, people have also got relief from the scorching heat. The maximum temperature in these areas was being recorded in excess of 40 degree Celsius. A drop in temperature has also been recorded after the rain.
