Health and Family Welfare and AYUSH Minister Dr. Rajeev Saijal said that the State Government is moving towards proper utilization of energy along with proper exploitation of hydropower. Preference is being given to the establishment of solar power plants at identified places in the state, which is one of the best sources of alternative energy. Dr. Saijal was addressing the gathering after distributing 73 solar power lights under the Scheduled Castes and Tribes sub-plan at Dharampur under Kasauli assembly constituency of Solan district today. Dr. Saijal said that under Mukhyamantri Roshan Yojna, free electricity connections are being provided to BPL or Antoday families having annual income of less than Rs 35,000. Under the scheme, 5862 beneficiaries have been provided free electricity connections. 7500 assistance is provided to the beneficiary on each connection. He said that 30 percent subsidy is being provided to domestic consumers on solar geysers by Himurja. He informed that under Grid Collected Solar Roof Top Phase-II by Himurja, 40 percent subsidy up to 3 kilowatts and 20 percent subsidy up to 10 kilowatts above 3 is being provided by the Central Government and Rs 4000 per kilowatt to the domestic consumers by the state government. The AYUSH Minister said that the threat of Covid-19 is not over yet and everyone needs to take precautions to prevent it. He said that to protect against Covid-19, wear a mask in public places and keep cleaning your hands frequently with soap or alcohol-based sanitizer. On this occasion, BJP Mandal Kasauli President Kapoor Singh Verma, APMC Solan President Sanjeev Kashyap, BDC Solan Vice President Madan Mohan Mehta, Juvenile Justice Board member Rajkumar Singla, Consumer Union President Sundaram Thakur and a large number of local residents were present.
