In Himachal Pradesh, the lack of rain for almost two months has affected the new apple plants. Due to drought the soil has lost its moisture. Due to this, 50 to 80 percent damage has been done to these plants. These plants have withered due to drought. Even the plants which had got leaves have also withered. Both the hard work and money of the gardeners have been wasted in planting new plants. If there is no rain within 15 days, then the crop grown in big plants will also suffer heavy damage. The roots of such plants are deep, due to which the snowfall and rain in winter remains a support. But, if the situation remains like this, the gardeners will have to bear a big loss.
There is no drought effect in the areas where irrigation facilities are available. But, the irrigated areas are very less. Even in the shady areas adjacent to the forest, there are still some new plants left. Due to the shade here, there is moisture in the soil. The gardeners got their hopes up a few months ago when new saplings were grown. A bunch of apples (plants grown from seeds in the nursery) were purchased. In this, grafting was to be done after one year. This time grafting was done in the batch planted last year. The effect of drought on grafting has also started.
