The Himachal Pradesh Cabinet, in a meeting held on 6th May 2025 under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, approved several key decisions aimed at social welfare, agricultural growth, infrastructure development, and healthcare improvement.
One of the most notable decisions was the inclusion of domestic working women under the Indira Gandhi Pyari Behana Sukh Samman Nidhi Yojna. Women who have worked as domestic help for a minimum of 100 days, along with their daughters aged 21 years and above, will now receive ₹1500 per month as a pension.
To support natural farming practices, the Cabinet approved an increase in the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for several naturally grown crops. The MSP for naturally grown wheat has been raised from ₹40 to ₹60 per kilogram, and for maize, from ₹30 to ₹40 per kilogram. Additionally, the MSP for naturally grown raw turmeric has been set at ₹90 per kilogram, and barley from the Pangi block in Chamba district at ₹60 per kilogram. Pangi has also been declared the first Natural Farming Sub-Division of the state.
The Cabinet gave its approval for the allotment of 422 stage carriage routes to private operators to improve transportation services and generate self-employment opportunities for the youth. To tackle the issue of roadside parking and urban congestion, the Cabinet allowed the opening of feasible closed basement floors for parking purposes. Any misuse of these floors for non-parking activities will attract heavy penalties and mandatory restoration.
Healthcare infrastructure received a significant boost with the approval to establish Nephrology, Neurology, and Gastroenterology departments at Dr. Radhakrishnan Government Medical College in Hamirpur. For the smooth functioning of these departments, 118 posts across various categories will be created and filled. The Cabinet also approved filling up 43 technical posts under different Krishi Vigyan Kendras in the state.
A new division of the Jal Shakti Vibhag will be opened in Sujanpur, Hamirpur district. In the tourism sector, a new Home Stay Policy was approved with a registration fee for homestays in Pangi Sub Division set at 50 percent of the standard rate to promote tourism in remote areas.
Further, the Ayurvedic Health Centre at Kosari in Kangra district will be upgraded to a 10-bedded Ayurvedic Hospital with the necessary staff. The Primary Health Centre at Panjawar in Una district will also be upgraded to a Community Health Centre.
To provide relief to residents in transition areas, the Cabinet decided that residents of 14 newly constituted Nagar Panchayats and merged areas of upgraded municipal corporations and councils will continue paying water tariffs at rural rates for the next three years. This includes areas in Hamirpur, Una, Baddi, Nadaun, Baijnath-Paprola, Jwalamukhi, Dehra, Paonta Sahib, and Jwali.
In a move to rationalize resources and improve training infrastructure, the Cabinet approved the merger of 14 ITIs. Seven State of Art (SOA) ITIs will be merged with their respective Government ITIs, and seven Women ITIs will also be integrated into their corresponding Government ITIs across the state.
