The Himachal Pradesh government is going to take a new loan of Rs 1,000 crore. The state government has issued two notifications worth Rs 500-500 crore. This loan will be repaid by the year 2031 and 2033. Principal Secretary Finance Prabodh Saxena has issued its notifications. This loan is being taken in the name of development works in Himachal Pradesh, although it has to be spent on giving new pay scale to the employees. The Chief Minister has made it clear that there will be a financial burden of Rs 4,000 crore on the government for giving the new pay scale. Earlier on 26 August 2021 also, the government had issued notifications to take a loan of Rs 1,000 crore.
After that, on 18 November 2021, there were four notifications of Rs 500 crore each for loans of Rs 2,000 crore. That is, notifications have been issued to take a loan of Rs 4,000 crore in four months. Now the state government has got more than 65,000 crore debt. It is special that the state government has announced to release a new pay scale for the employees from January 1, but the economic condition of the government is not good. In the Kovid period, the government is going through even more financial crisis. After the Punjab government, it has been the obligation of the Himachal government to pay the pay scale as per the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission.
