The question paper was leaked even before the written examination of police recruitment held on March 27 across the state. 3 candidates had received the question paper and its answers by paying Rs 6 to 8 lakh. He passed the exam with an unexpected 70 marks. The paper is believed to have leaked from a printing press. The accused who leaked the paper are from Haryana and Delhi. Meanwhile, all the three candidates are in police custody.
After confirming the paper leak, Kangra police has registered an FIR under section 420 against the accused late on Thursday night at Gagal police station in Kangra. SP Kangra Khushal Chand Sharma has informed Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur and DGP Sanjay Kundu about the whole matter late at night.
The SP has confirmed that the case has been registered. To nab the accused, the SP has formed teams late at night and sent them to Haryana and Delhi. The SP said that before giving the written examination, three youths had got the question paper by paying Rs 6 to 8 lakh. These youths were asked by the touts to memorize them by giving typed answers. Candidates and parents have accepted the fact of memorizing the answers by paying money. The SP said that the candidates had given papers at the center set up in Thakur Kanshi Ram School, Chaitdu. The investigation has also intensified into how many more brokers have sold papers.
How police got suspicious
On April 5, after the results of the written examination were out, the passed candidates were called by the police across the state to check the documents. After that the appointment was to take place. During the scrutiny of documents, SP Kangra got suspicious on three youths. The three youths had 70 marks out of 90. But his marks in class X was not even 50 per cent. The SP questioned the three youths separately. The three youths got caught in the police interrogation and they admitted that they had got the answers of the typed questions by paying Rs 6 to 8 lakhs even before the written examination. They were asked to memorize the answer.
74 thousand gave the written exam
The recruitment examination was held on March 27 for 1334 posts of Himachal Pradesh Police Constables. In these, the result was declared on 5 April 2022 for 932 male, 311 female constable, 91 male constable as driver posts. In the first phase, the written examination was conducted at 81 centers in the state. More than 60 thousand candidates appeared for the posts of constable male and more than 14 thousand candidates for the posts of constable female in the written examination.
