Negotiations between the Himachal Road Transport Corporation Drivers’ Union and the management failed. Now there will be a one-day strike proposed on May 30. HRTC buses will not run in the entire state on that day. Due to this the people of the state may have to face problems. During the talks between the driver union and the corporation management, it was agreed to give the 6th pay commission to the employees of the corporation, but the payment of other allowances could not be agreed. Drivers and operators have not been able to get night over time since 36 months.
The driver union was demanding that the government and the corporation management should provide night over time to the employees as soon as possible, but the meeting could not agree. The corporation management put forth its stand. Said that the arrears pending since 2006 cannot even be paid. Though it was proposed to constitute a committee for the payment of night overtime, the union office bearers rejected this proposal of the management and are still sticking to their decision.
The drivers union also raised slogans against the HRTC management and the government in Shimla. At the same time, he has warned that if their demands are not accepted before May 29, then the decision not to run buses on May 30 will not be postponed. Union officials have alleged that the employees are being treated step-motherly by the government and the corporation management. While the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission have been implemented in other departments of the state, the recommendations have not yet been implemented for HRTC employees. At the same time, the financial demands pending for many years are also not being fulfilled.
