Due to the closure of air flights across the country in the year 2021 during the Covid period, only 4832 foreign tourists arrived in Himachal Pradesh. In the year 2020, more than 42 thousand foreign tourists had seen the beautiful plains of Himachal. Before the Covid period, the number of foreign tourists coming to Himachal used to be in lakhs. In the last two years, the havoc of Covid across the country has also affected the tourism business of Himachal Pradesh. Due to this the tourism business of the state has been badly affected. This can be gauged from the fact that in 2021, only 4832 foreign tourists arrived to see the beautiful plains of the state.
In district Kangra, 2701 foreign tourists visited. The number of foreign guests in Shimla this year has come down to 825. There are many such districts of the state, where the figure of foreign tourists has not even crossed 100. Not a single foreign tourist entry has been registered in Bilaspur and Una districts in the year 2021. Only one foreign tourist has come to Hamirpur district. According to the statistics of the tourism department, 3,82,876 foreign tourists had visited Himachal in 2019. In the year 2020 42,665 and in the year 2021 only 4832 foreign tourists have been registered.
