Himachal Pradesh Directorate of Higher Education has issued warning letters to many private schools for increasing fees arbitrarily. These schools have been instructed to reduce the increased fees at the earliest. Apart from this, the details of the fee structure fixed for the academic session 2022-23 have also been called from all the private schools.
Director of Higher Education Dr. Amarjeet Kumar Sharma has said that private schools cannot increase the fees without the consent of the Parents Teacher Association (PTA). Instructions have been given to fix the fees only through the general body. Action will be taken against private schools which do not follow the rules.
As soon as the new academic session starts in many districts of the state including the capital Shimla, private schools have increased the fees drastically. There have been more complaints about fee hike in private schools in Shimla including Solan, Mandi, Kangra. Parents have also opened a front in Shimla regarding this.
The Education Department and the government are being accused of not following the rules set during the Corona crisis.
