The Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC) of 7 H.P. (I) Coy NCC Shimla began at Government Model Senior Secondary School Karsog of District Mandi here on Saturday, with 547 cadets from different Schools, colleges, varsities of Shimla and Mandi along with a support staff of Army and associate NCC officers participating in twenty day training camp from eleven July to Twenty one July in two shifts. In first shift of the camp, 547 cadets joined training camp. In augurating the camp, Commanding Officer Colonel D.R. Gargey, 7 H.P. (I) Coy NCC Shimla, addressed the cadets that NCC is an ideal platform for imparting discipline and fitness to the youths. Col. D.R. Gargey exhorted the cadets to excel in all fields, enjoy the training and develop camaraderie and friendship, nationalism among themselves. “The Combined Annual Training Camp of NCC is aimed at imparting quality training to the cadets in drill, rifle use & rifle handling, firing, use of compass, SLR introduction, map reading, health and hygiene, personality development, communication skills, moral & motivation, and disaster management”, said Commanding Officer Colonel D.R. Gargey.
Various competitions such as sports, painting competition, and cultural activities are also being conducted to identify potential cadets who will be fielded for various national-level NCC camps
