There has been a stir in the government after constables demanding a revised pay band threatened a self-immolation parade at the Ridge ground on January 26. On the instructions of the government, the state police and CID officers have started searching for those who have made this threat. The special thing is that still the emphasis is on finding only those who threaten, but the demand for giving revised pay band from eight years to two years is still gathering dust in the files.
Sources say that the Chief Minister has asked the officials of the Home and Finance Department to apprise them of the situation on this demand. Officials are preparing to include this demand in the budget announcement. Since, there have been incidents of acceptance of the demand by the government after the demonstrations of various organizations and anti-government statements. In such a situation, there is a consensus among the constables that the government will not accept the demand without agitation. This is also being said in WhatsApp groups of police personnel. Due to this, now the constables are gradually increasing the pressure on the government to get their demand fulfilled.
