Local dialects of Himachal will now be taught in government schools. At the primary level, the novice will know the popular words of different districts. For this, the District Institute for Education and Training (DIET) of all the districts has started mapping. Its purpose is to preserve the dialects by making the students aware of the local dialects from the beginning. A separate district wise dictionary will be prepared for this. Many words of the local dialect will be taken in that dictionary. Those words would then be brought into the books. With this, children will continue to get information about folk culture and local language along with studies in schools.
Till now, the history of other states is taught to the young people in schools, whereas Himachal has its own identity. There is a variety of dialects and folk culture here. Due to lack of knowledge of the history of Himachal, people are forgetting it. If children are taught in the local folk culture and local language, then they will be able to understand it easily. Along with reading, they will also get information about their culture.
