The tourist town was completely packed with tourists for Christmas. In the two days of the weekend with Christmas, 4000 tourist vehicles have entered Manali. These include about 70 Volvo buses. Earlier, 1050 tourist vehicles were reaching Manali. After five years, Manali was completely packed for the celebration of Christmas. The occupancy of small and big private hotels along with corporation hotels stood at 100 per cent. Tourism traders say that last year was lost to Corona. After 2015-16, there has been an influx of tourists in Manali. Normally Manali has 60 to 80 per cent occupancy on Christmas and New Year’s Eve, but this year tourist vehicles were seen crawling on the roads of Manali. At many places, tourists also had to be troubled by the jam. On Christmas day, there was a movement of tourists in Manali’s Mall Road, Hidimba Temple, Gulaba, Kothi, Solangnala along with Atal Tunnel Rohtang and Sissu. Mohamed Shakeel, manager of Hotel Monarch Residency in Manali said that the entire Manali hotel is packed with his hotel. Many tourists had to go back due to non-availability of rooms. Hoteliers Gajendra Thakur, Bhag Singh, Leela Prakash and Sunil Kumar said that record tourists have reached Manali after a long time. Tourism Development Corporation’s AGM BS Okta said that all the hotels of the corporation in Manali are running packed. There are a lot of bookings coming for the new year as well. Roads also fell short with parking in Manali for thousands of vehicles of tourists who reached Manali on Christmas. On Friday late evening and on Saturday, Manali, Solanganala, Gulaba Marg along Hidimba Road remained jammed throughout the day. Additional police force has been deployed to keep the traffic smooth, but due to the influx of tourists, the police had to sweat a lot. New Year Queen Competition will be held at Tourism Corporation Manali Club House. There is a lot of booking of tourists for the new year. So far, hotels in Manali are 80 percent packed. Tourists who reached Manali on Christmas celebrated fiercely in the live music system.
