The Chief Guest Commanding Officer, 7 H.P. (I) COY NCC Headquarter Shimla, Colonel D.R. Gargey exhorted APG varsity students and NCC cadets to come forward for the service of the nation and society.
School of Sciences of APG Shimla University under the aegis of Prof. Dr. Maninder Kaur, the chairperson of school of sciences and Assistant Prof. Dr. Prachi Vaid organized a program on the subject of ‘Hamara Himachal, our pride’ here on Wednesday to mark the Pre-Himachal Day in the auditorium of the University in which NCC cadets including the students of the APG Shimla University participated enthusiastically. On this great occasion, the Commanding Officer of 7 HP (I) Company NCC Headquarter Shimla, Col. D.R. Gargey attended as the special chief guest, while APG Shimla University Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ramesh Chauhan, Registrar Balram Jha, University’s Chief Advisor Engineer Suman Vikrant (former Chief-in-Engineer) were the guests of honor. Chief Guest Commanding Officer Col. D.R. Gargey as soon as entered the university campus with his convoy , NCC cadets of APG Shimla University gave the guard of honor and escorting the chief guest with impressive respect, while the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Dr. Ramesh Chauhan and the registrar welcomed the chief guest Col. D.R. Gargey by presenting him a Himachali cap and shawl and the Commanding Officer Col. Gargey. Visiting the university as the special chief guest and Col. Gargey exhorted and motivated the youths, students for social service and nation service. NCC cadets of the varsity presented a memento to the chief guest Col. Gargey on behalf of NCC Unit APG Shimla University. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ramesh Chauhan while addressing the students, NCC cadets, teachers of the university said that every citizen loves his motherland and nation and for its progress, everyone including youth should always keep hard working to contribute for the progress of the country. Vice Chancellor Prof. Chauhan threw light on the existence, history, journey of Himachal Pradesh from the formation of Himachal Pradesh to full Statehood of Himachal Pradesh in great detail and said that Himachal Pradesh is such a holy land where human civilization, Vedic culture originated eferring about Himachal Pradesh in the Puranas and Vedas, he said that the description of Himachal Pradesh comes in the Puranas and youths must read their great culture and history to hone their knowledge. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Chauhan said that present young generation should know the culture, history of their State, country and take education from them. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ramesh Chauhan introduced the book written by him on Himachal Pradesh to the chief guest, students and teachers and said that more researches are required on Himachal Pradesh. Chief Guest, the Commanding Officer Col. D.R.. Gargey addressed the students, NCC cadets, professors that we are proud of the young generation because youths are the shield of the country and nation, state and society, if the young generation is motivated to help the society with the right education with the objective of the society’s help is the help of nation and country as well, but for this life struggle, unity of the country, peace along with development psych, one should also be ready to sacrifice himself for the protection of the country and the nation too. ” Students should join NCC along with their studies because it is an organization that teaches the lesson of patriotism, unity and discipline and makes students successful in every field and there are many opportunities to join the armed forces”, said Commanding Officer Col. D.R. Gargey while interacting with the students.. Colonel D.R. Gargey said that no organization and society can progress without discipline, so discipline should be maintained in life. Colonel Gargi said that all the freedom fighters, soldiers, and the Indian Army as it’s all time role in times of crisis, peace, natural daunting challenges, protect the nation against the foes and every citizen mostly youths should take a pledge to serve the nation and be self-reliant to serve the nation through innovative ideas. During this celebration, APG University students and NCC cadets performed presented the glimpses of Himachali culture, history and get acquainted with Himachali culture through Himachali Pahari songs. The play ‘Himachali Rishtey Khiskate Khiskate created a lot of fun and entertainment. The students of the hospitality and tourism department of the APG Shimla University served famous dishes of all the districts of Himachal to the guests, teachers and students and the chief guest Col. Gargey appreciated the efforts of the students. On behalf of NCC unit of APG Shimla varsity, cadets presented a momento to the chief guest Commanding Officer Col. D.R. Gargey and Col. Gargey interacted with the cadets and he exalted the progress and the participation in cultural activities to mark the Himachal Day. Every student, every cadet, every soldier, every youth has ulterior talent which comes out for the great cause of the nation and advancement of the society as well if they strove with motivation, guidance and quality education, said Col. D.R. Gargey while interacting with students and cadets.
