An uncontrollable trolley trampled 30 vehicles in Bhattakufar, Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh, at around 1:30 pm on Monday. 13 people including folk singer Vicky Chauhan were injured in this accident. All the injured are undergoing treatment at the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGMC). It is being told that this trolley was going to Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh after loading 650 boxes of apples from the fruit market kiln. The trolley became uncontrolled after coming out of the mandi on the main road.
In the meantime, the operator jumped out of the trolley and started instructing people to stay away by shouting. The uncontrollable trolley went on trampling the vehicles in the queue. There was panic on the spot seeing the trolley becoming uncontrollable. Everyone ran to save their lives. Meanwhile, the driver hit the trolley against the wall of the Public Works Department office. Due to this the wheels of the trolley stopped but about 30 vehicles were hit.
It is being told that the brakes of the trolley had failed. However, the real reasons will be known only after the completion of the investigation. DSP Headquarters Kamal said that the Dhali police station has registered a case and started investigation.
Dr. Rahul Gupta of IGMC told that five have been discharged from the hospital. Other injured are being treated under the supervision of doctors. Two people have fractured their bones in the accident. One of the injured has suffered injuries in the knee and the other on other parts of the body.
