Himachal Pradesh government has appointed IPS officer Dr. Atul Verma as the new Director General of Police (DGP) of Himachal Pradesh. After the permission of the Election Commission, the state government issued its notification on Wednesday. Dr. Verma is a 1991 batch IPS officer. The Election Commission has given the go ahead for filling up of forms for grant of Rs 1,500 financial assistance to women but with the rider that no new beneficiaries must be added till the model code of conduct is in force. Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu today inaugurated the state’s first outdoor escalators at the hilltop Hanuman temple Jakhu in Shimla at a height of 2,455 metres above sea level. Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said that the state government is going to fulfill the fifth guarantee of the Congress manifesto. Announce to give Rs 1500-1500 every month to more than five lakh women aged between 18 to 60 years from the financial year 2024-25.
