Heavy rain and snowfall has severely affected life in Himachal Pradesh. Snowfall has increased the troubles in the high altitude areas. Till Monday evening, 685 roads remained closed in the state. Bus service is affected on 415 routes. Snowfall has brought life to a standstill in Shimla, Kullu, Chamba, Lahaul-Spiti and Mandi districts. Due to the closure of 1288 power transformers in the state, darkness has spread in many areas in the midst of severe cold. On the Jari-Malana road of Kullu’s Parvati valley, several vehicles were damaged due to stone falling from the hill.The falling of stones continues here. Upper Shimla has been cut off from the capital due to fresh snowfall in Narkanda on Sunday night. Jalodijot NH-305 is also stalled. Maximum 257 roads are closed in Shimla district. Maximum 666 power transformers have stalled in Chamba. In the Giripar area of Sirmaur district, snowfall and rain have spoiled the weddings. A procession got stuck on the way in Sangrah. Couldn’t get back on Muhurta.
Till Monday evening, 106 in Chamba, 40 in Kinnaur, 43 in Kullu, 181 in Lahaul-Spiti, 45 in Mandi, 9 in Sirmaur and 4 in Solan remained stalled. Apart from this, 43 in Kinnaur, 45 in Kullu, 33 in Lahaul-Spiti, 19 in Mandi, 323 in Shimla, 89 in Sirmaur and 40 power transformers remained closed. 287 drinking water schemes are also running in the state.
National Highway-05 connecting the capital to Upper Shimla could not be restored for bus operation on Monday.
Other areas including Theog, Kotkhai, Rohru, Kumarsain, Rampur, Reckangpeo, Chaupal and Nerwa have been cut off from the capital due to the closure of roads in Kufri, Fagu, Narkanda, Kharapathar, Khidki. There is a black out in Banikhet for 24 hours. The power which went off on Sunday was not restored till Monday evening. Corporation buses are being sent from Rampur to Shimla via Dhami.
According to the bulletin issued by the Meteorological Center Shimla, there is a possibility of rain and snowfall in some parts of the central and high hills of the state on January 25. A yellow alert has been issued in the plain districts of Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur and Kangra on Tuesday for dense fog. Sunshine is forecast in the afternoon. From January 26, if the weather remains clear in the entire state, there is a possibility of getting relief from cold. The weather is forecast to remain clear in the entire state till January 28.
