With the onset of apple season, the prices of packing trays have increased again. Last month, a bundle sold for Rs 700 has become costlier by Rs 45 this month and has reached Rs 745. Packing tray prices are running up to Rs 780 per bundle in many areas. New prices are to be fixed this week for the month of July, which is expected to increase further. Carton prices have already increased by about 18 per cent this year as compared to last year. Gardeners are worried about the increase in the cost per box of apples.
Gardeners mostly use Mohan fiber trays for packing apples. The price of packing tray of Mohan Fiber has reached Rs 745. Prices are expected to increase further this month. Area manager of Mohan Fiber says that the price of scrap has reached Rs 18 to 34 per kg, import of waste from Russia Ukraine has stopped. Prices of rice husks and chemicals have doubled, transportation has also become expensive, due to which the prices of trays have increased.
