NPA closure Strike
Doctors in Himachal Pradesh have started a pen-down strike from Monday in protest against the closure of Non-Practice Allowance (NPA). The doctors will be on strike from 9:30 am to 11:00 am daily till the demand is not met. During this time only emergency services will be provided.
There was a huge rush of patients from the slip counter to the OPD in the hospitals because of the strike. Patients arriving from far flung areas had to return home without treatment while many operations were also suspended due to the strike. Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGMC), the biggest health institute of the state, also postponed the operation of about eight patients.
Principal Advisor (Media) to Chief Minister Naresh Chauhan said that Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu is out of the state. The matter of the doctors will be discussed as soon as they return.
