The upper parts of Himachal Pradesh are covered in a white blanket of snow. Heavy snowfall has occurred in the upper reaches of Himachal Pradesh including Shimla, Sirmaur, Kullu, Lahaul-Spiti, Kinnaur and Kullu districts. Snowfall continues in these areas for two days. State capital Shimla also received heavy snowfall. Traffic is badly affected. According to the report released by the State Disaster Management Center on Friday morning, 677 roads including three NHs Darcha to Sarchu, Granphu to Losar and Shimla-Rampur are blocked for traffic. Apart from this, 961 power transformers and 98 drinking water schemes have come to a standstill.

Air flights are also closed in the state. The entire state is in the grip of cold wave due to rain and snowfall. People’s troubles have increased. The sequence of avalanches is also continuing in Lahaul. There has been an avalanche near Tandi in Lahaul. At the same time, high altitude rural areas including Manali, Rohtang Pass, Solangnala, Atal Tunnel Rohtang, Jalori Pass, Sisu have become completely paralyzed.

Snowfall has also occurred in Kasauli, Chail, Kandaghat and Solan towns of Solan district. Dozens of power transformers are closed due to snowfall in Chail. Six inches of snow is forecast in Dagshai. In Kangra also, there has been snowfall on the hills of Dhauladhar including Naddi, Multhan, Bir Billing.
