Government of Himachal Pradesh has issued notification regarding the appointment of Chairman and three members in Public Service Commission. It has been decided to appoint IG Intelligence Rameshwar Singh Thakur for the post of President. Apart from this, one of the three members, OP Sharma, has been replaced by Dr. Nayan Singh. In the notification issued by the state government, Prof. By ousting OP Sharma, Prof. Nayan Singh has been given the place.
Apart from this, retired IAS officer Rakesh Sharma has been appointed as a member of the Public Service Commission. Retired Colonel Rajesh Kumar Sharma has also been appointed as a member. They have been appointed for a period of six years or till the age of 62 years.
Born in 1964, Rameshwar Singh Thakur will continue as the chairman of the Public Service Commission till 2026. Rameshwar Singh Thakur is now 58 years old and his tenure in the Commission will be till the age of 62 years. Rameshwar Singh Thakur has two sons, one son is a fighter jet pilot in the Air Force.
Rameshwar Singh Thakur is decorated with the President’s Medal. He was in the post of IG Intelligence. Before joining the police service, he was in the rank of Captain in the Army. Rameshwar Singh Thakur has also been under the protection of the Prime Minister for nine years.
Earlier, a notification was issued to make Dr. Rachna Gupta, a member of the Public Service Commission, as its chairman. But after the controversy, the government reversed its decision.
