For the elections to the Municipal Corporation Shimla of Himachal Pradesh, the district administration has released the roster of reservation of wards on Friday. Of the 41 wards of the Municipal Corporation, 21 are reserved for women. In this, 17 wards are reserved for women and four wards are reserved for scheduled caste women. In such a situation, only in 20 wards, male candidates will get a chance to contest elections. Out of this, three wards have been reserved for the category belonging to the Scheduled Castes. After the amendment in the Act by the government, this time the new roster will be applicable in the municipal elections. This roster will be prepared on the basis of the population of the ward. In this, the female population in the ward, scheduled caste population etc. will be seen.
More than 25 existing councilors will be able to contest again
With the implementation of the new roster in the city, more than 25 of the existing councilors will be able to contest again. In the year 2017 also a new roster was installed. At that time also the roster was prepared according to the population. The population has not changed much since then. Only breaking the ward has made a difference.
