The rules for getting a new electricity connection in Himachal Pradesh have become easier. Now new electricity connection will be available even without NOC of Gram Panchayat and Municipal Corporation. The State Electricity Regulatory Commission has made a new arrangement for domestic connections up to 20 kW capacity. Now to get a new connection, the consumers will have to provide only identity card and property ownership certificate. Consumers will now be able to apply for a new connection offline as well as online.
The State Electricity Regulatory Commission has given this relief to the consumers by amending the Himachal Pradesh Electricity Supply Code 2009. For getting domestic electricity connection of less than 20 kW capacity, only identity proof and property ownership certificates will be required. Apart from this, test report, agreement form and application form will have to be given compulsorily. A new connection will have to be given in fifteen days in urban areas, 20 in rural areas and 30 days in inaccessible areas. The commission has also asked the State Electricity Board to give a road map for the installation of new smart pre-paid meters in the state.
