Today there is a big relief news for the state from the point of view of health. Four years, 63 days after the foundation stone was laid, the OPD of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Kothipura in Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh will start from Sunday. At present, 79 Super Specialists, 85 Nursing Officers will serve in 19 OPDs in AIIMS. A population of more than 75 lakh will get the benefit of the state’s largest health institute. The then Health Minister JP Nadda dreamed of AIIMS in Bilaspur and PM Modi had laid the foundation stone for it in October 2017. AIIMS is being built on Shimla-Bilaspur road in about 229 acres with a cost of Rs 1350 crore. This institute will have 750 beds, while medical as well as nursing studies will be done here. 50 trainees of the first batch of MBBS are currently undergoing training. Apart from healthcare, facilities for nursing, graduation, post graduation, medical education etc. will also be provided here. It is noteworthy that even in the second dose of corona vaccine, Himachal Pradesh will become the first state in the country to achieve 100% target. It will also be announced at the opening ceremony. So far 53.30 lakh eligible people have been given both doses while the target is 53.77 lakh. 80 percent construction work completed 80 per cent construction work of AIIMS has been completed by NBCC Construction Company. Student Hostel, Faculty Residence, Ayush Bhawan have been completely completed. Academic building will also be ready in January 2022. The entire AIIMS will be ready in June 2022. Doctors had already started services Even though the OPD of AIIMS is going to start from December 5, but the doctors of AIIMS started services about five months ago.
