Even after 50 days of the cement dispute, Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu’s first meeting with Barmana truck operators at the secretariat on Wednesday remained just a formality. The CM held meetings with only one union in Shimla, while truck operators in Darlaghat raised hue and cry against Adani Cement Company, the Center and the state government. The transporters will now hold talks with the truck owners in Barmana and Darlaghat and propose to the government regarding the cement transportation rate.
Naresh Gupta, deputy head of Solan District Truck Union, said that in the talks that lasted for about a quarter of an hour, the Chief Minister said that the truck owners should first fix the cement transportation rate among themselves. After this, the government will hold talks with the company management regarding this rate. On Thursday, talks will be held with the truck owners of Darlaghat and Barmana regarding the rate of cement transportation.
CM said that the state government was with the truck operators and their exploitation would not be tolerated. He said that the livelihood of thousands of people of the State was linked to cement factories and other activities, therefore the State Government was committed to resolve the matter amicably.
