The capital Shimla on Wednesday night recorded the highest minimum temperature in 53 years during March. The minimum temperature in the city was 18 degrees Celsius from 8 am on Wednesday night till 8 am on Thursday. Earlier in the year 2010, the minimum temperature was recorded at 16.5 degrees. According to the data available with the Meteorological Center Shimla since 1969, the night of 16 March was the hottest in Shimla during March. There has also been an increase in the maximum temperature of the state.
On Thursday, the mercury remained above 30 degrees in ten areas of the state. The Meteorological Center has predicted clear weather across the state on Friday. Rain and snowfall are forecast in the central and high mountain areas on Saturday and Sunday. The weather is likely to remain rough in many areas of Shimla, Solan, Sirmaur, Mandi, Kullu, Chamba, Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti districts. A yellow alert has also been issued for March 19.
