Three leaders of Devbhoomi Kshatriya Sangathan and Devbhoomi Savarna Samaj have been arrested in connection with the violent demonstration in the capital Shimla on Wednesday for not forming the upper caste commission. Seven sections have been slapped on the arrested Rumit Thakur, Madan Thakur and Deepak Chauhan on several charges including attempt to murder ASP and three police constables.Superintendent of Police Dr. Monica Bhutungroo said that the three were arrested at 4:00 am on Thursday from a hotel located in Shoghi, adjacent to the capital. All three were produced in the court, from where they have been sent on five-day police remand.In the complaint, ASI Suresh Kumar of QRT Police Line Kaithu said that around 10:00 am on Wednesday, when he was on surveillance of the concerned area along with the employees, about a hundred activists led by Rumit and Madan blocked the road in Tutikandi.
Meanwhile, when they reached the HRTC workshop near Taradevi to maintain law and order, stones were pelted with the intention of deliberately targeting the police chiefs. In this, Additional Superintendent of Police Sushil Kumar Sharma, driver constables Rajkumar, Karthik, Akshay were injured.It is alleged that the workers of this organization also pelted stones on vehicles and vandalized them with sticks and iron rods. Police have registered a case against ten activists of Devbhoomi Kshatriya Sangathan and Devbhoomi Savarna Sangathan for obstructing Shimla-Chandigarh highway.
