The Centre has notified the appointment of Justice MS Ramachandra Rao as the Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court.
He has served as a Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court. In April this year, the Supreme Court collegium comprising CJI DY Chandrachud and Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul, K M Joseph, M R Shah and Ajay Rastogi proposed the appointment of Justice M S Ramachandra Rao As Chief Justice Of Himachal Pradesh High Court.
Justice MS Ramachandra Rao will take oath as the Chief Justice of the Himachal High Court at 10:30 am on Tuesday. Himachal Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla will administer him the oath of office and secrecy of the Chief Justice at the Raj Bhavan. After that a full court will be organized to welcome him in the High Court.
The central government had issued a notification in this regard late on May 26. He was born on August 7, 1966 in Hyderabad. He was enrolled as an advocate on September 7, 1989. Ramachandra Rao, a 1991 batch University of Cambridge alumnus, has also been awarded Cambridge Commonwealth Scholarship, Bank of Credit and Commerce International Scholarship and Pegasus Scholarship from Inner Temple’s Scholarship Trust for his Masters course. His father Justice M Jagannath Rao was also a judge.
