    NCC Group Commander Brigadier Rohit Dutta, who arrived at APG Shimla University on Thursday to take stock of NCC activities, NCC facilities, enrollment and recruitment of students in NCC, interacted with the university administration and NCC cadets. Vice Chancellor of APG Shimla University Prof. Dr. Ramesh Chauhan welcomed and thanked the Group Commander for visiting the university. After assuming the charge of Group Commander of NCC Group Headquarter Shimla, Himachal Pradesh a month ago, he came to the University for the first time and taught the lessons of patriotism, nation-love, social-service, sense of unity to the students including NCC cadets.

He said that a student should always be ready to take enroll  in NCC and armed forces for the development and security of the nation. Dutta motivated the students to join NCC and aware about the  aims of NCC and  benefits NCC ‘C’ certificate and then cadets get the opportunity to become officers directly in all the three wings of the army and the meritorious cadets in other services are also given initiative.     Group Commander Brigadier Rohit Dutta lashed out at the H.P. State government and expressed displeasure that the government was not providing facilities to the NCC in the best way for the benefit of the youth of the State. Group Commander Rohit Dutta said that no one talks about career related to NCC in Himachal Pradesh whereas better facilities are available for NCC in other States and students of the State are far away from the meager facilities available for NCC in Himachal Pradesh. He said that this is the reason why NCC cadets of Himachal miss out on making a career in flying. Brigadier Dutta stressed that there are two NCC aircraft in the State which are gathering dust in Patiala of Punjab for three years and the state government has several times only to make these aircraft available for training of air wing cadets in Himachal. Assurances are given and always ignored. He said that a large number of cadets of the Air Wing of Himachal miss out on a career in flying and do not get any opportunities or have to move to other states outside the state for flying-training. Dutta said that if these aircraft are not used for training cadets in the air wing units of Himachal, then these aircraft are not going to be available to Himachal soon and the hangars and parking places of the aircrafts are also not good for years. He added that crores of rupees are spent to become an air craft pilot and if the students and cadets of the state get the training facility of aircrafts easily in the state free of cost then they can make their career in commercial flying and join the Air Force. can also go. He said that the NCC cadets of Himachal were not getting any benefit from these aircraft kept by the Air Wing cadets at Patiala and they were missing the opportunity to make their career in flying. He said that there is still a lack of awareness about NCC in Himachal and students from rural areas should get an opportunity to join NCC.
