Five cadets of Seven HP NCC (National Cadet Corps) Shimla, who returned after participating in the Republic Day Parade Delhi on 26th January, were formally felicitated by the Commanding Officer, Colonel D.R. Gargey, on Monday at the NCC office, Shimla. In the function, these meritorious cadets of their unit Seven HP (I) Company NCC Shimla were felicitated and congratulated by giving mementos and certificates for their excellent performance and striking achievement.

Gargey said that Cadet Sr Under Officer Manika Sethi, Cadet LCPL Ivy Bhettan, Cadet LCPL Mehak, Cadet Harsh Jamalta and Cadet Dhananjay were among the seven HP NCC (National Cadet Corps) selected for the Republic Day Parade held in Delhi in which participants from across the country and HP State participated.
Commanding Officer Colonel D.R. Gargey said that Cadet Senior Under Officer Maanika Sethi belonging to 7 HP (I) NCC Shimla has also been awarded the prestigious NCC DG Commendation Card award for the year 2023. She was presented with the award by NCC DG NCC Lt.Gen Gurbirpal Singh AVSM, VSM. Col. “This award was presented to her by DG NCC at the Commendation Card Felicitation Ceremony organized at DG NCC Camp Delhi on 29 January, 2023 during the Republic Day Camp. The award is given for meritorious service and devotion to duty for the NCC”, told Commanding officer Col. D.R. Gargey.Col Gargey added that Cadet Senior Under Officer Maanika Sethi is a student of St. Bede’s College Shimla pursuing BA Psychology Honours, and is the only NCC cadet from entire Himachal Pradesh to receive this award this year. He told that only two NCC cadets from NCC Directorate Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh have received this award for the year 2023.
Col. Gargey said that Senior Under Officer Maanika Sethi has received this award for her sincerity and dedication towards NCC and her overall achievements in the NCC camp and other NCC pursuits. Senior Under Officer Maanika Sethi was also awarded the All India Second Best MC Award at the Republic Day Camp for her exuberance participation. Recognizing Manika Sethi’s excellent track record in overall NCC, she was awarded the Best Senior Under Officer Award of the Unit by Colonel D.R. Gargey Commanding Officer, 7 HP (I) Company NCC Shimla.
Senior Under Officer Manika Sethi said that she is very happy to receive the honor and being a part of the Republic Day parade at the national level is a memorable moment. Manika Sethi says that this is an important achievement towards achieving the goal of serving the country by becoming an army officer in near future. This honor is also an inspirational example of women empowerment for other daughters and women. Commanding Officer Colonel Gargey congratulated all the first training staff of Seven HP NCC Shimla, assistant NCC officers and teachers and parents on the achievement of these meritorious NCC cadets.
