Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur while addressing the meeting of Kardar Sangh organized at Sanskriti Sadan of Mandi announced that the State Government would sympathetically consider transferring such government or forest land on which temples have been built in their names. . Jai Ram Thakur said that Mandi town is actually the land of gods and goddesses and that is why it is also known as Chhoti Kashi. He said that each village in Mandi district had its own deity and his temple. He said that hundreds of Gods and Goddesses participate with their Devlus in the International Shivratri Festival of Mandi, but there was a lack of place for those Devlus to stay for a long time. He said that to fulfill this need, Sanskriti Sadan has been constructed on the lines of Dev Sadan Kullu where international Dussehra festival is organized every year.
Jai Ram Thakur said that the people of Himachal have great faith in the deities. He also urged the Dev Samaj to go ahead and give their cooperation in removing the problem of drug addiction. He said that we have to take initiative to encourage the youth to stay away from this social evil. He also suggested organizing group Devdhun to the Bajantris during Shivratri festival. He also urged Dev Samaj to participate in the cleanliness campaign. He said that temple committees should also come forward in other social activities like operation of cow sanctuary and Gau Sadan in the state. He also wrote his remarks in the visitors’ book of Sanskriti Sadan.
