Anita Thakur of Koot, a small village of Thehar Panchayat under Nurpur development block, has brought laurels to the Nurpur region across the state by winning ten medals in mixed martial arts in the last two years. Anita’s interesting journey has reached from the earthen arena to the iron ring. 19 year old Anita is the only Mix Martial Arts female player from Himachal who is making new achievements day by day playing dangerous sports. Anita was trained by her coach Amit Rana through Nurpur Sports Club at Bachat Bhawan Nurpur while Anita Judo, Boxing She is an expert in wrestling and has brought laurels to the state and region by winning medals in many state and national competitions. Anita has proved her talent by winning 3 Gold 1 Silver 6 Bronze medals in a year. Anita has a dream of becoming a world champion in the batum weight category (52 to 60 kg weight category), for which she is focusing on her training day and night. Anita believes that the youth can do anything, they are just late to get a chance. Anita has won more than a dozen awards at the state and district level in wrestling. Impressed by the performance of Anita Thakur, the youth of Nurpur has awakened the spirit of participating in sports. Forest Youth Services and Sports Minister Rakesh Pathania has presented an amount of 51 thousand rupees to Anita as incentive, whereas Anita has been honored in many functions by the government.
