The exercise to strengthen the road network along the international border with China and Pakistan has intensified. Now the Defense Ministry is going to connect Leh directly with double lane road from Kyato village of Spiti Valley of Lahaul-Spiti district. The Border Roads Organization (BRO) has been working for a long time for the construction of this strategic route. After completing the survey at the ground level, BRO has now sent its DPR to the Defense Ministry for approval. The special feature of this route is that it will pass through mostly plains and normal hilly areas. Despite heavy snowfall, this route will remain open for 10 months in a year. The army, tourists and common people will have to cross only one Tatila pass. There will be easy access to the China border.
BRO will construct about 125 km of new road and take it to Tso Moriri Lake in Korjok, Ladakh. About 211 km of double lane road work from Korjok to Leh is also in progress. It is a matter of relief that there will be no difficult passes like the Manali-Leh route between the strategic route originating from Kyoto. It is being told that only a few kilometers ahead of Kyoto is mountainous and rocky. The construction of this road will be completed soon as the rest of the area is plain and flat.
