India’s International Movement to Unite Nations (I.I.M.U.N.), recognised as one of the world’s largest youth-led organisations, is set to organise a three-day city-level council in Shimla from October 16 to 18, 2026, at Auckland House School. Returning to Shimla after a long break after covid, the conference aims to bring together more than 500 student delegates from across Himachal Pradesh on a common platform to discuss issues of local, national and international importance.
The conference will bring together school and college students, educators, parents, principals and distinguished personalities from various fields, creating an environment that encourages dialogue, critical thinking, leadership and effective communication among young people. The three-day programme will feature an inaugural ceremony, committee sessions involving debates and discussions, resolution-building exercises, yoga, social activities and a concluding ceremony to recognise outstanding delegates.
During the committee sessions, students will assume the roles of world leaders and engage in structured discussions on pressing issues affecting society and the international community. Through these deliberations, participants will be encouraged to examine different perspectives, articulate their views, develop practical solutions and strengthen their public speaking and decision-making skills.
The conference will commence with an inaugural ceremony on October 16, followed by an intensive programme of discussions and interactive activities over the three days. The event will culminate in a closing ceremony on October 18, during which outstanding delegates from different committees will be recognised for their participation and contributions.
I.I.M.U.N. works towards sensitising present and future leaders to the importance of collaboration, dialogue and responsible leadership, drawing upon Indian ethos and values. With a presence spanning 275 cities across 40 countries, the organisation has built a wide network of educational institutions and young people through its Model United Nations conferences. Its conference format encourages students to deliberate on real-world issues, work towards consensus and engage with actionable goals, helping connect classroom learning with practical leadership experiences.
The Shimla conference offers students across Himachal Pradesh an opportunity to engage with peers from different backgrounds. By bringing young minds together on a shared platform, the initiative seeks to encourage informed discussion, broaden perspectives and nurture a generation of confident, socially aware and responsible leaders.
