Restrictions on construction works in the core and green areas of Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh, are going to be removed from the year 2017. City dwellers will now be able to do construction work in these areas. Construction work can be done for commercial activities along with residential buildings. The condition of construction of two and a half storey building in non core area will also be removed. For this, the government has notified the draft city development plan. Urban Development Minister Suresh Bhardwaj released this plan prepared by the TCP department on Tuesday at Bachat Bhawan located in the office of the Deputy Commissioner.
The Urban Development Minister said that an interim development plan was prepared in 1979. After about 42 years, now for the first time, the BJP government has prepared Shimla’s development plan. Under this, construction works can be done in the city. Said that due to the decision of the National Green Tribunal, restrictions have been imposed on construction works in the core and green areas of the city. After the implementation of the development plan, people of these areas will be able to do construction work on their vacant land. Bhardwaj said that this GIS-based development plan has been prepared under the AMRUT scheme of the central government. Now construction works will be done in the city under this development plan. Apart from the city, this plan will also be applicable in TCP areas Kufri, Shoghi and Ghanahatti.
