In Himachal Pradesh, domestic consumers consuming electricity up to 60 units per month will not get electricity bills from this month. Consumers will get electricity bill at the rate of Re 1 up to 125 units. This new system has started in the state from Tuesday. 11 lakh consumers of the state are expected to get relief from this decision. At present, the monthly electricity consumption of about four lakh domestic consumers remains up to 60 units. These consumers will no longer be charged Rs 40 for meter rent and Rs 15 for fixed charges. No bill will be issued by the board to the consumers consuming electricity up to 60 units.
Seven lakh customers consuming electricity up to 125 units will be billed at the rate of Re 1 per unit instead of Rs 1.55 per unit. Pankaj Dadhwal, Managing Director of Electricity Board said that all those consumers whose electricity consumption is 60 units per month, who had to pay electricity bill of Re 1 per unit. Now no money will be taken from them. In this, there will also be complete exemption of fixed charges and meter rent. Domestic consumers whose consumption is up to 125 units. At present, they have to pay a subsidized rate of Rs 1.55 per unit already by the government. In this, the government has given a further exemption of 55 paise. These consumers will now be billed at the rate of Re 1 per unit.
