The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has prepared the record for handing over the case to the CBI in the paper leak case of the written examination of Police Constable Recruitment. The police have so far arrested 91 people in this case. These include candidates, agents and the relatives of some candidates. 10 agents have been nabbed from outside states. It has come to the fore that this paper is divided in 8 districts of Himachal Pradesh. Maximum 57 accused have been arrested from district Kangra.
Apart from this, several documents, Rs 10.35 lakh in cash, 5 cars, 137 mobile phones, laptops have been seized from the accused. The seized documents, mobile phones and laptops will prove to be helpful for the CBI to proceed with the investigation. Until CBI does not handle the case, the SIT of the police will continue the investigation. According to information received from Police Headquarters Shimla, 6 teams have been formed to investigate the matter in Himachal Pradesh and other states.
In these, teams have been formed for investigation team, document preparation, raids, cyber investigation, interrogation and financial related investigation. These teams of police have conducted investigations on scientific and technical basis. It may be noted that the written examination was held on March 27 for the recruitment of 1,334 posts of police constables. The result was declared on 5th April. The paper was held in 81 examination centers across the state. Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur had canceled the exam after first publishing the news of paper leak in Amar Ujala.
No arrests so far from Shimla, Kinnaur, Sirmaur and Lahaul-Spiti
So far 91 accused have been arrested in this case. Maximum 57 accused have been arrested in district Kangra, 19 from Solan, four from Hamirpur, three each from Mandi-Bilaspur-Chamba, one each from Una-Kullu. These accused include 63 candidates, three relatives, agents and conspirators. 15 agents and conspirators are from Himachal, 10 from other states. Of these, 26 are in judicial custody and 21 are in police custody. No arrests have been made so far from Shimla, Kinnaur, Sirmaur and Lahaul-Spiti.
Goods and amount recovered from the accused
– Rs 10,34,900 (Indian currency), Rs 6,000 (Nepali currency).
– Five cars, 137 mobile phones, four laptops, one DVR, 10 hard disks, one pen drive, three memory cards, one Jio-Fi.
– The agents got the certificates of 10th and 12th of the candidates.
One account passbook, two check books, three PAN cards, two Aadhaar cards, seven debit cards, one attendance register and one waste register.
One visitor register, photocopy of visitor register, two photocopies of Aadhar card.
– A diary, photocopies of air tickets, screen shots of WhatsApp chats, a digital clock.
