The weather is expected to remain bad in the entire state till May 26. Orange alert has been issued in all areas of Himachal Pradesh due to heavy rain, hailstorm and storm. It has been raining continuously in the state since last night. The Chandigarh-Manali highway near Pandoh dam was blocked due to landslide. The road was blocked due to heavy rain and slippery on Tuesday morning. However, the highway was later restored. In Himachal Pradesh, peaks and many residential areas of Lahaul-Spiti district have become covered with snow at the end of May. Amidst the alert of the Meteorological Department, there has been fresh snowfall in the higher mountainous parts of the state. At the same time, it is raining in the middle and low altitude parts of the state including Shimla. Due to the snowfall, a sharp drop in temperature has been recorded and coolness has increased in the higher parts. The minimum temperature in Keylong has touched zero degree Celsius.
In view of the danger of snowfall and landslides on the Koksar-Granphu-Kaza road along the Darcha-Shinkula road, vehicular movement has been stopped here. The road connecting Pangi is also closed for two days. The road is closed due to landslide and due to damage to the bridge. Himachal Transport Corporation has also stopped Kaza bus from Kullu along with Keylong-Leh. The district administration has instructed the local people and tourists to avoid unnecessary travel due to bad weather. For the first time in the three-month-long drought in Kullu, it has rained for 10 hours. It has been raining since 12 o’clock on Monday night. Due to this the faces of farmers and gardeners have blossomed. Especially for apple, tomato, rain will act as a life-saving. More than 10 roads in the district have also been disrupted due to the rains.
Minimum temperature in Shimla is 9.8, Sundernagar 16.1, Bhuntar 13.4, Kalpa 7.6, Dharamsala 13.2, Una 20.2, Nahan 16.9, Keylong 0.4, Palampur 13.0, Solan 13.4, Manali 9.2, Kangra 16.2, Mandi 16.7, Bilaspur 21.0, Hamirpur 17.9, Chamba 15.4 , Dalhousie 7.6, Kufri 7.8, Jubbarhatti 13 and Paonta Sahib recorded 19.3 degree Celsius.
